With its ideal location between mountains and desert, Colorado Springs has numerous hiking trails that wind their way through canyons, forests, and interesting rock formations. The Garden of the Gods is one of the most popular with towering walls of red sandstone and lookoff points.

Swimming Spots

When the temperature rises in Colorado Springs, many people head to Prospect Lake Beach to cool off. Prospect Lake is in the heart of the city and the beach has picnic tables, a volleyball pit, and public washrooms. There is also a trail looping around the lake and fishing access.

If the weather is cooler, there are a few indoor swimming spots in Colorado Springs. These include the Manitou Pool and Fitness Center and the YMCA family centers at Memorial Park and Cottonwood Creek.

Golf Courses

If you want to practice your putting or fine-tune your swing, there are numerous golf courses in and around Colorado Springs. The Patty Jewett Golf Course and the Valley Hi Golf Course are right in the city and both offer great views of Pikes Peak.

Head a little further out and you will find some pretty spectacular courses. The Antler Creek Course is the second longest in the country. The Kissing Camel Course offers plenty of challenges and amazing views of the Garden of the Gods.

Colorado Springs Recreation Centers

Being the health-focused city that it is, Colorado Springs has numerous facilities where you can exercise and learn a new sport. For example, the Banning Lewis Recreation Center has a Jr. Olympic pool with a splash area for kids, tennis courts, and a fitness center.

Mountain Biking and Cycling Paths

The Kit Carson Riding Club is the oldest in Colorado and welcomes riders of all ages and skill sets. Academy Riding Stables offers guided horseback rides along trails in the Garden of the Gods park and full-care horse boarding.

Colorado Springs Country Clubs

Joining a country club is a great way to meet new people and gain access to private facilities like golf courses, state-of-the-art fitness centers, and tennis courts. Many country clubs also have dining facilities and spas.

The Club at Flying Horse is set on sprawling grounds just north of Colorado Springs and features two golf courses, an athletic center, a European style clubhouse with a steakhouse and a stunning spa. The Colorado Springs Country Club is another option closer to downtown.
