Falcon Real Estate
Like other smaller communities situated on the outer edges of the Colorado Springs area, Falcon real estate is growing quickly.
It’s a quiet community with large properties that have ample space due to the flat terrain and wide open landscape.
Falcon homes for sale are available in either a developing neighborhood, or on a ranch, acreage, or farm out in the country. The neighborhood homes in Falcon are fairly new as demand and development thrive here, particularly in the north. The acreage homes offer the chance to live the country life with less than a half hour drive to the urban core of Colorado Springs.
Homes in Falcon are typically cottage, craftsmen, and colonial styles, and with options for ranch style homes in the country setting.
Developers in this master-planned community have made the most of the available space. The homes are built on expanded lots, allowing for considerable front yards with driveways and an attached garage, and full backyards with a patio deck for enjoying the fresh country air and views of Pikes Peak.
These large homes are ideal for families in this expanding ranching community. It’s peaceful, quiet, and the community has its own school district -- Falcon School District #49.
Falcon Area and Community
Located just south of the communities of Black Forest and Peyton, Falcon is northeast east of the Colorado Springs city -- about 20 miles via US-24 W and E Platte Ave.
The Falcon area and community is made up of unique neighborhoods, including Antler's Ridge, The Meadows, Elkhorn Estates, Woodmen Hills, Falcon Heights, and Sunny Slope Estates. The northern region of Falcon is where housing development is growing the quickest, making those neighborhoods, like Meridian Ranch and Paintbrush Hills, particularly popular.
Residents of the Falcon community often enjoy live music in the parks, unwinding on any number of the several hiking trails, biking, and horseback trails, or exploring the delightful communities around them.
Falcon is home to the beautiful Colorado plains, but also many ponds, springs, and older trees. Being a semi-arid steppe grassland, Falcon has a dry season and a wet season, allowing for the landscape and climate to wonderfully change with the seasons to enjoy year-round.
Falcon is also home to the picturesque Antler Creek Golf Course, which also happens to be the second longest golf course in the entire country. Don’t let that scare you away, friendly tee set ups allow for every skill level to enjoy their round.
History of Falcon, CO
By 1896, The Falcon Land Company, the company the community is now named for, began selling properties to individuals. The area was popular and growing because of the intersecting railroad. At this time, there were two hotels, six pool halls, two general stores, two train depots, a blacksmith shop, and a school.
Roughly forty years later, the automobile diminished the need for the railroad, and a flood washed away what was left of the tracks being used.
It wasn’t until 1984 that the construction of a business complex jump started the growth of Falcon once again. Retail services, like a Safeway and Walmart, were built and the population doubled in ten short years.
The Colorado Springs area is a sought after region for home buyers of all types, and Falcon continues to grow and develop homes for couples and families.
