The Area of The West Side
The I-25 Highway runs north to south through the western side of Colorado Springs. At the southern point is the community of Fountain, and at the northern point is through Monument. Within the city of Colorado Springs, anything west of that highway, is considered The West Side of Colorado Springs.
Some of Colorado City’s most popular outdoor destinations lie in The West Side. The Front Range of the Rocky Mountains provides spectacular hiking, biking, climbing, and more, all the way to the top of Pikes Peak. The 230,000 hectares of protected area within the Pike National Forest is an incredible place to have, so close to your own backyard.
Garden of the Gods is a public park filled with visually striking rock formations that tourists and locals can visit and explore. Red Rock Canyon is a large city park with a network of trails to explore the landscape, rivers, quarries, and more. Bear Creek Park is also in The West Side and a popular summer spot. Here you can enjoy a day at the beach, places to picnic, and other fun activities like windsurfing or fishing.
